Cytology: nucleic acids

Nucleic acids are responsible for the control of all cellular functions, in addition to preserving the inherited genetic information.

They are macromolecules formed by smaller molecules called nucleotides. Each nucleotide is composed of a nitrogenous base, a monosaccharide from the group of pentoses and a molecule of phosphoric acid.
